Computed Tomography Technologist
Job Description
As a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist, you will provide health care services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. You will perform radiographic procedures and computed tomography procedures, producing images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services while maintaining medical ethics, and provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiography procedures.
- Corroborate patient's clinical history with procedure and ensure information is documented.
- Prepare patients for procedures; provide instructions to minimize anxiety and gain cooperation.
- Select and operate radiography equipment to achieve desired results.
- Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest.
- Determine radiographic technique exposure factors, minimizing exposure to patients and others.
- Evaluate images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded.
- Verify informed consent for interventional procedures and assist a licensed practitioner.
- Practice aseptic techniques as necessary.
- Assume responsibility for the physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures.
- Prepare, identify, and administer contrast media and medications as prescribed.
- Initiate basic life support actions when necessary.
- Assist licensed practitioners with Fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures.
- Operate Computed Tomographic equipment and accessories, selecting appropriate programs for desired protocols.
- Perform venipunctures and evaluate images for technical quality.
- Maintain archival storage of digitized data as appropriate.
- Provide patient education regarding procedures.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Licenses/Certifications: OBMI and ARRT registered CT technologist, Current BLS certification.
- Preferred: CRASE training.
