Job Description

This position serves to provide quality speech and/or language therapy services to a predominantly Native American population. Responsibilities include the rehabilitation of patients with various developmental, cognitive, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. The role involves planning and administering medically-based speech therapy for both inpatient and outpatient services.

Responsibilities

• Assess and interpret evaluations and test results for patients ranging in age from birth through geriatric.
• Develop speech therapy treatment plans based on physician referrals or consultations.
• Set realistic treatment goals depending on the patient's abilities, needs, and evaluation findings.
• Document results of assessments, treatments, follow-ups, and termination of services in patient records.
• Select and construct therapies according to individual patient goals and needs.
• Instruct patients, families, and staff in appropriate speech-language procedures and therapies.
• Provide specialty services, including swallowing evaluations and pediatric speech/language therapy.
• Maintain compliance with federal and state speech therapy certification requirements and organizational policies.
• Participate in continued quality improvement and risk management activities.
• Consult with the Physical Rehabilitation team and other health care professionals.
• Train and provide in-services for students and staff education.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA accredited program.
• Current certification of clinical competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA.
• Valid and unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology license from Arizona or any U.S. state, D.C., or Puerto Rico.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
