Neuro Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position with a night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (19:00 - 07:00). Candidates will be expected to work 4 weekend shifts per month, specifically on Friday or Saturday nights.

Job Description

The Neuro Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse will provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients with neurological conditions. The role requires strong neuro experience and the ability to manage complex patient needs, including those on ventilators and with multisystem organ dysfunction.

Responsibilities

• Manage airway and ventilatory support for patients.
• Administer and titrate IV sedatives and vasopressors.
• Perform continuous monitoring of vital signs and neurological status.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Understand and implement isolation precautions.
• Triage patients in emergency settings, as required.
• Document patient care accurately using computerized systems (Epic).

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1.5 years of recent experience in a Neuro ICU or similar setting.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand or compact required at submission.
• Certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS is required.
• Experience managing patients with complex neurological issues, including post-surgical neurosurgery, stroke interventions, and critical care protocols.
