Job Description

The Surgical Technologist assists during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team. This role is critical in participating in unit activities that assure high levels of quality related to patient care and functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Possesses expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques, human anatomy, and surgical procedures.
• Maintains and checks all items for proper packaging and sterility, ensuring a safe operating room environment.
• Monitors the sterile field for contamination and initiates corrective actions as needed.
• Works towards competence in Tier 1 surgical cases.
• Participates in effective communication with the perioperative team, including the Time Out Process.
• Assists with patient transports, room turnovers, and preparation.
• Models professional behavior and stays current with new technologies and procedures.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Follows the principles of a Just Culture.
• Performs additional duties as assigned while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist.
• Licensed as a Surgical Technologist in the state of Colorado.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
• Must possess or be able to obtain necessary computer skills within 90 days.
