Registered Respiratory Therapist - Rotating Shift

Job Description

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Responsibilities encompass all patient populations and service areas.

Responsibilities

• Reads prescriptions, measures arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess condition and treatment requirements.
• Determines the most suitable method of administering inhalants and ensures compatibility with physician's orders.
• Evaluates and interprets clinical data to optimize patient care objectives.
• Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, and aerosol generators.
• Monitors patient’s physiological responses and performs necessary adjustments to equipment for optimal therapy results.
• Conducts bronchopulmonary drainage and assists patients in performing breathing exercises.
• Performs pulmonary function tests used by physicians for diagnostic purposes.
• Consults with physicians regarding any adverse reactions during treatment.
• Maintains patient charts with pertinent therapy information and assists in transporting mechanically ventilated patients.
• Responds to all code situations within the facility.
• Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with operational competencies.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory program.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT) certification.
• State licensure as required.
• NRP may be required for certain facilities.

Schedule

This position operates on a rotating shift schedule, working 12 hours a day for 3 days a week, guaranteeing a total of 12 hours per week.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
