Acute Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) - Full Time

This is a 13-week contract position, with the contract expected to run through holidays.

Full Time, 3x12-hour shifts - day/night shifts variable, including weekends and holidays.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families within the acute medical/surgical setting. This role involves assessing patient needs, developing individualized plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, providing direct care, and evaluating patient progress. The RN will specifically develop skills in cardiac care, including telemetry monitoring, while ensuring effective patient education for self-care post-hospitalization.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient/family needs through effective communication and observation.
• Create culturally relevant, individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Promote and advocate for the health, safety, and rights of patients.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices and make necessary improvements.
• Provide education to patients and families to facilitate understanding of care plans and health maintenance.
• Encourage teamwork and cooperation among staff for optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain infection control standards and report safety risks or questionable practices.
• Conduct rounds, utilizing required tools and equipment to keep patients and families informed and safe.
• Build trusting relationships with patients and families to foster a healing environment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active New York State RN Licensure.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical environment.
