Part-Time Acute Med/Surg Registered Nurse

Assignment Duration

This is a contract position with a duration of 13 weeks.

Schedule

Part Time (2x12s) - Day/Night variable shift and contracts must run through holidays.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The Med/Surg RN develops specialized skills in the area of cardiac care, including telemetry monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family needs through active listening and data analysis.
• Create individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare team members.
• Provide patient/family education to promote self-care and understanding of health needs after discharge.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
• Engage in self-evaluation of practice and foster professional development.
• Document education provided and patient/family responses.
• Promote teamwork and cooperation among team members.
• Comply with infection prevention strategies and maintain competencies required for patient care.
• Conduct rounds per protocol and ensure patient engagement and safety.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN Licensure Required
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS
• One year of experience serving in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse
