Surgical Scrub Technician (OR Tech)

Assignment Duration

This is a 22-26 week contract position with a flexible end date.

Schedule

4x9 hour days, with call rotations and weekends as required.

Job Description

The Surgical Scrub Technician participates as a key team member in the planning and implementation of nursing care for each patient. They will work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and ancillary services to ensure safe patient care while demonstrating professional conduct and discretion regarding confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field according to AORN Standards.
• Demonstrate competence in handling instruments and supplies, ensuring proper cleaning and sterilization.
• Assist in the proper draping of the patient and manage sharps with care to prevent injury.
• Maintain accurate counts of all sterilized equipment and initiate corrective measures when discrepancies occur.
• Support a safe and compliant surgical environment by assessing for cleanliness and readiness.
• Train and mentor new employees as a preceptor.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS certification (through AHA or RQI specifically) is required.
• OR Tech certification is mandatory.
• At least one year of experience in a surgical or clinical environment is required.
