This is a flexible contract position with a duration of 22 to 26 weeks, running through the holidays.

Schedule

Full-Time Days or Nights with a rotation for holidays.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and effective communication to provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families. The ED RN conducts assessments, identifies urgent or emergent care needs, and collaborates in providing direct care while evaluating patient progress.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and primary assessments of patients in the Emergency Department, identifying care priorities based on Triage Standards.
• Establish rapport with patients and families, addressing comfort and informational needs, while continuously updating them throughout their ED stay.
• Perform assessments to detect major deviations from the norm, document findings, and identify required interventions.
• Utilize relationship-based care principles to enhance patient and family experience while managing both physiological and psychosocial needs.
• Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures, ensuring education and follow-up for post-emergency care at home.
• Maintain strong collaboration and communication with team members to ensure positive patient outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• One year of acute hospital experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification from AHA or RQI.
• New York State Registered Nurse Licensure.
