Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

Schedule

This position requires night shifts and consists of 12-hour workdays, with weekend and call responsibilities every other weekend and an average of three calls per schedule, based on department needs.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist evaluates patient outcomes, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to make necessary adjustments in the plan of care. Key duties include providing explanations and instructions regarding respiratory disease processes and interventions to patients and their caregivers, ensuring understanding prior to discharge.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and modify care plans as necessary.
• Provide respiratory care according to physician orders while maintaining communication with medical and nursing staff.
• Educate patients and families regarding respiratory care and discharge instructions.
• Participate in peer education and share clinical knowledge with staff and students.
• Accept reassignment to other units when required.
• Plan, implement, and assess the effectiveness of respiratory interventions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate's degree in a related field is required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
• Valid Illinois state license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program - Maternity Health Care (NRP-MHC) certification.
