Job Description
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols. The nurse will maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit and will facilitate coordination of patient care within the interdisciplinary care team while providing patient education to assure safe patient discharge.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily rounds on all patients ensuring quality customer service and addressing any unmet requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive plan of care based on patient assessments reflecting physical, psychological, social, educational, and rehabilitative needs.
- Regularly assess patient conditions and nursing needs, setting goals and prescribing appropriate nursing interventions.
- Promptly assess and intervene with patients' self-reported symptoms of pain, taking appropriate actions per standard procedures.
- Identify early warning signs of changes in patients' conditions and respond appropriately to deteriorating conditions.
- Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patient conditions.
- Accurately report and document observations and reactions regarding patients to appropriate multidisciplinary team members.
- Initiate discharge planning and education as early as possible based on identified needs for optimal patient/family understanding.
- Delegate nursing interventions within the scope of practice to individuals with the necessary skills and competencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental needs.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Registered Nurse licensure from North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON) or Compact State Agreement.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification via American Academy of Pediatrics (RQI Partners).
- STABLE certification.
