Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to establish individualized care plans.
• Identify teaching needs related to patient diagnoses through collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely updates on patient information and status for team conferences.
• Utilize the nursing process for direct patient care focusing on patient and family education.
• Initiate discharge planning on admission and begin patient teaching early.
• Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
• Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, delegating appropriately based on skills and competencies.
• Ensure personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies.
• Engage in team-building activities to foster a positive work environment.
• Assume charge responsibility as needed once oriented.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license required.
• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS required prior to first shift (specific locations only).
• Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience required.
