Registered Nurse - Obstetrics (High-Risk Maternity Unit)

Schedule

Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 06:45 to 19:15.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our fast-paced High-Risk Maternity Unit. The ideal candidate must have previous experience in a unit with over 300 births per month, as this setting is challenging and requires strong clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to obstetrical patients, including high-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care.
• Conduct sterile vaginal exams and assess immediate newborn care.
• Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1 while handling an average of 20 births in a 24-hour period.
• Facilitate Triage of obstetrical patients for admission and perform outpatient procedures.
• Be prepared to float within the women's unit as needed.
• May be required to precept or orient new staff as necessary.
• Participate in scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and other special procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with preference for 3 years in maternity or high-volume settings.
• Candidates must possess current BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications.
• Experience as a circulating nurse for C-sections is strongly preferred.
• Must be capable of interpreting dysrhythmias and managing pain assessments.
