Neuro ICU Registered Nurse

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Neuro ICU Registered Nurse to join our team at a comprehensive stroke center. The patient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, SDH, craniotomies, carotid procedures, and seizures. The ideal candidate will have strong neuro critical care experience and the ability to manage complex patient cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Neuro ICU.
• Manage ventilated patients, monitor ICP, and administer continuous sedation as required.
• Perform blood product administration and central line management.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, including arterial lines and lumbar drains.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Maintain isolation precautions and use PPE effectively.
• Participate in patient education and support family involvement in care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Neuro ICU (required).
• ACLS and BCLS certification.
• NIHSS certification preferred.
• Must be comfortable with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1, which may flex to 3:1 during high census.
• EKG testing must be passed prior to start.
