CT Technologist

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shifts will be Wednesday 7 PM - 8 AM, Thursday 7 PM - 8 AM, and Friday 7 PM - 8 AM.

Job Description

Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, the CT Technologist performs diagnostic CT exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment. Key responsibilities include verifying patient identity, reviewing medical records, interviewing patients to update medical history, and assessing risk factors such as medications and pregnancy. The CT Technologist explains procedures, sets up equipment, acquires images, and communicates data to the radiologist while recognizing and responding to medical emergencies. Participation in process improvement activities and providing education to residents and new employees is also required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic CT exams and operate imaging equipment.
• Verify patient identity and review medical records for exam appropriateness.
• Interview patients to collect and update medical history and risk factors.
• Explain procedures, including risks and benefits, to patients.
• Set up equipment and acquire appropriate images according to established protocols.
• Review images, document exceptions, and communicate findings to radiologist.
• Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as needed.
• Provide post-care instructions as prescribed by the physician.
• Participate in process improvement activities and quality assurance in radiology.
• Provide education and support to residents, student technologists, and new employees.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have ARRT certification in CT Tech.
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent CT experience with the ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with GE CT imaging equipment.
• Registered with the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA).
