Registered Nurse - MedSurg Unit

12-hour night shifts, including weekends as scheduled.

Job Description

The MedSurg unit is a 52-bed facility where all rooms are private. The staff-to-patient ratio is generally 1:6-7, primarily 1:7 for both day and night shifts. Registered Nurses will work alongside Clinical Assistants and certified Nursing Aides to provide high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients post-operatively and manage symptoms of various medical conditions including COPD, pneumonia, and infections.
• Utilize the electronic medical record system (Allscripts) for charting and documentation.
• Collaborate with the clinical team, including Hospitalists and Intensivists, to provide coordinated care.
• Monitor vital signs and assist with medication administration, including intravenous therapies.
• Perform assessments and evaluate patient needs, including IV site assessments.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse license.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification is required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification is a plus.
• Experience in MedSurg or related specialties, with preferred knowledge in peritoneal dialysis.
