Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while promoting a safe and supportive work environment for all staff and patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission.
- Identify teaching needs related to each patient's diagnosis through collaboration with the patient/family and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely updates on patient status for the Initial and Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, utilizing the nursing process for direct patient care.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission.
- Facilitate communication concerning changes in patient status among care providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to nursing personnel and delegate tasks appropriately.
- Contribute positively to the unit by fostering teamwork and collaboration.
- Maintain effective communication with management regarding supplies and service needs.
- Assume charge nursing responsibilities as requested, following the orientation period.
- Engage in professional development through continuing education and self-study.
- Effectively prioritize tasks to meet patient needs.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- A minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
