Registered Nurse - Cardiac and Stroke Unit

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, requiring every other weekend, 2 Mondays, and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period.

Job Description

Join our dynamic Cardiac and Stroke Unit, where we provide specialized pre/post care for patients undergoing cardiac procedures and manage complex cardiac conditions. This fast-paced unit typically sees a high turnover of patients, and you will take on assignments that may require caring for up to 6 patients at a time.

Responsibilities

• Administer and titrate cardiac drips such as Diltiazem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone.
• Care for patients with myocardial infarction, unstable angina, congestive heart failure, and other cardiovascular conditions.
• Conduct telemetry monitoring and manage IV starts, including the management of cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• Assist in the care of patients on BiPAP and high-flow oxygen support during surges.
• Participate in admissions, discharges, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams for optimized patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar, busy cardiac unit.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and a strong understanding of cardiac conditions.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Must possess an active RN license, compact licenses are acceptable.
