Certified Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

Job Description

The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as per physician orders, with a focus on specialty areas such as Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. The role involves monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, patient assessment, and an understanding of hemodynamic monitoring and blood work results.

Responsibilities

• Deliver all Respiratory Care procedures as outlined in departmental policies.
• Maintain accurate documentation of Respiratory Care procedures.
• Verify physician orders for Respiratory Care.
• Provide comprehensive patient assessments and recommendations for therapeutic interventions.
• Monitor and manage ventilator patients, interpreting flow volumes and pressure volume curves.
• Perform effective airway management, including bag/mask ventilation and assisting with intubation.
• Conduct arterial blood gas draws and enter patient service data into the department's computer system.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new employees and respiratory/nursing students.
• Participate in departmental meetings and maintain compliance with safety and infection control measures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Graduate of a COARC approved Respiratory Care Program with Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) Credential.
• BLS certification (to be obtained within 90 days of hire).
• NRP certification (to be obtained within 6 months of hire).
• At least one year of respiratory experience in a hospital setting.
• Experience in pulmonary diagnostics and cardiac diagnostics preferred.
