Laboratory Technologist - Evening Shift

Job Description

The Laboratory Technologist (MLT or MT) is responsible for performing laboratory tests and accurately reporting results to physicians for the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of diseases. The technologist assists in the general operation of the laboratory, quality assurance programs, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. This position requires independent judgment, professional education, and National certification (AMT or ASCP). Following successful completion of probation, the Laboratory Technologist will serve as a general supervisor for waived, moderate, and high complexity testing, while adhering to the Mission and Values of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex tests in all areas of the laboratory according to established protocols.
• Conduct phlebotomies, including arterial punctures, capillary punctures, and venipunctures.
• Process specimens and ensure proper functioning of instruments and reagents through quality control and maintenance.
• Validate and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assist in the development of laboratory policies and procedural manuals.
• Orient and teach students and new employees.
• Maintain established safety practices and promote effective working relationships within the team.
• Attend required in-service education and demonstrate respect and professionalism in the workplace.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or a related specialty.
• Certification/registration or eligibility for certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician is required.
• Knowledge of medical technology principles, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Schedule

This is an evening shift position that requires rotating weekends.
