This position follows a night shift schedule from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care tailored to the specific age and needs of the patient population served on assigned units. This role ensures that quality care is delivered in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. The RN demonstrates effective performance that aligns with the organization's mission, philosophy, and goals, while treating all individuals—staff, physicians, patients, and families—with respect and compassion.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments and establish care priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
  • Re-assess patient systems systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans within the timeframe established by Nursing Standards of Care.
  • Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on evaluations of patient outcomes and modify care plans as necessary.
  • Participate in patient education and discharge planning with patients and their significant others.
  • Implement and document timely interventions according to patient needs and evaluate care plans accordingly.
  • Perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
  • Utilize effective communication strategies to ensure the completion of patient care activities.
  • Coordinate team assignments and adjust as needed based on patient and unit requirements.
  • Promote a positive work environment and contribute to the unit's growth and development.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
  • Current BLS certification via AHA.
  • Current ACLS certification via AHA.
  • Additional certifications may be required based on units where floated.
  • Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
  • Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.
