Registered Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

This is a 13-week contract position for a Registered Respiratory Therapist. The role requires flexibility in scheduling and mandatory state licensure in Hawaii. The therapist will work independently in a hospital's respiratory therapy unit, executing clinical judgment and applying scientific knowledge to address respiratory care challenges under physicians' orders.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, monitor, and maintain life support systems for patients requiring continuous ventilation.
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and manage airway maintenance during emergencies.
• Conduct patient evaluations and consultations on treatment methods for respiratory disorders.
• Administer age-specific treatments and ensure effective communication with patients and families.
• Operate pulmonary function testing equipment and analyze results for diagnosing respiratory disorders.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding treatments and respiratory care practices.
• Adhere to safety and infection control policies to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Participate in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation services and patient education programs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Current state licensure for Hawaii.

Schedule

Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, requiring flexibility from the candidate.
