Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Staff rotates through 0630-1500, 0900-1730, and 1100-1930. Weekend coverage and call opportunities are available on a voluntary basis.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room is responsible for providing professional nursing care based on current perioperative nursing knowledge. The role includes using the nursing process to assess patients, develop and implement plans of care, and evaluate patient care outcomes for a diverse age population from pediatric to geriatric.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a plan of care through continuous assessment in the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative settings.
• Ensure the supply and functionality of equipment required for surgical procedures.
• Maintain a sterile field and apply principles of aseptic technique during procedures.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient health status to ensure safety and quality care.
• Implement health education for patients and families regarding surgical processes and care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of an accredited registered nurse program required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years prior Operating Room experience required.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications, with renewals every two years.
