Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, with every other weekend requirement. No call shifts are required.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in the Medical/Surgical Telemetry department, you will provide comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients, including those with complex medical diagnoses. You will be responsible for monitoring telemetry, managing various patient care tasks, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy.
• Provide care for patients with bowel obstructions, colostomies, and feeding tubes.
• Administer blood products and provide pre/post-operative care.
• Utilize rapid response and code team protocols effectively.
• Conduct wound care and manage post-surgical drains.
• Provide care for patients undergoing hemodialysis and manage renal failure.
• Ensure proper documentation and adherence to infection control protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Med/Surg or Telemetry unit.
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications; ACLS preferred.
• Experience with Epic or other electronic documentation systems is preferred.
• Ability to float to other units as needed.
