Certified Sterile Processing Technician

Job Description

The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Technician is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing all instruments used for surgical procedures and patient care. This position involves performing daily biological and sterile supply testing, maintaining logs for each, and organizing and directing instrument needs throughout the facility. The technician assists clinical operations with endoscopy procedures, stocks and orders supplies as directed, and actively engages in competencies based on AVH policies, AORN, AAMI, HSPA, and CER standards.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments.
• Conduct daily biological and sterile supply testing and maintain accurate logs.
• Organize and direct instrument needs to various units within the facility.
• Assist with endoscopy procedures as needed for clinical operations.
• Stock and order supplies for the unit as directed.
• Participate in departmental activities to maintain a respectful and professional environment.

Schedule

This position works Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) certification required.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
