X-Ray Technologist

Schedule

Weekends: Friday - 10:30 AM to Midnight, Saturday - 8:00 AM to Midnight, Sunday - 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. This position may require on-call shifts and holiday coverage. Candidates must be able to report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts.

Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for verifying patients' identity and reviewing physician orders prior to conducting x-ray procedures. This role involves operating x-ray equipment to capture radiographic images as per the physician's instructions, providing explanations to patients regarding procedures, and positioning patients appropriately, which may include lifting those with limited mobility. The technologist is expected to maintain safety protocols, keep radiation doses to patients as low as reasonably achievable, and observe each patient’s condition to provide appropriate care. The role also includes ensuring proper identification and transmission of diagnostic images to the PACS system.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and review physician orders before procedures.
• Operate x-ray equipment to capture high-quality images for radiologist interpretation.
• Explain procedures to patients and address their questions or concerns.
• Position patients correctly, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Notify management of equipment malfunctions or damage.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems to manage records accurately.
• Adhere to patient safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Current New York State license (or able to obtain prior to starting).
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Ability to move or lift patients and stand for extended periods.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Recent operating room experience using c-arm/o-arm.
