Job Description

The Neuro ICU Registered Nurse will provide high-level nursing care in a comprehensive stroke center, focusing on patients with neurological conditions. The role includes performing critical assessments and interventions for patients recovering from strokes, undergoing neurosurgery, or managing complex neurological disorders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients with strokes (ischemic and hemorrhagic), SDH, craniotomy patients.
• Administer medications and blood products as required.
• Conduct continuous ICP monitoring and manage external ventricular drains (EVD).
• Provide care for patients requiring ventilation, including sedation management.
• Implement and follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU).
• ACLS and BCLS certifications are mandatory.
• NIHSS certification preferred.
• Experience with arterial line management and lumbar drains is significant.
• A valid RN license is required for the state of practice; NC or Compact license pending is acceptable for submission.
