Registered Nurse - Medsurg and Cardiac Observation

This is a 13-week contract position working 12-hour night shifts, including weekends as scheduled.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide care in the Medsurg and Cardiac Observation unit, focusing on pre/post catheterization patients, chest pain rule-outs, and various cardiac conditions. This fast-paced environment typically supports 21 beds with an average nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6.

Responsibilities

• Your main duties will include EKGs, bladder scans, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living.
• You will manage patients on heparin drips, as well as administer set-rate Cardizem and Amiodarone.
• Read and interpret cardiac strips while monitoring patients in real-time.
• Collaborate with a charge nurse who is present on the unit 24/7, taking on an active patient load during night shifts.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license with BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Prior experience in a similar setting is required, with specific skills in reading cardiac strips.
• Experience with TR Bands and managing set-rate drips is a plus.
