Job Description

Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and various medical gases therapy to patients. This role involves performing invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for patients in Intensive Care and General Practice Units. Effective communication with patients, co-workers, physicians, and other system employees regarding patient care needs is essential. Responsibilities include documenting all aspects of patient care, supervising and directing Respiratory Therapists and students as assigned, and completing necessary patient billing information.

Responsibilities

• Deliver life-support and resuscitation to patients.
• Monitor and administer various medical gases therapy.
• Perform both invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures.
• Communicate effectively regarding patient care needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care.
• Supervise and direct the work of other Respiratory Therapists and students.
• Complete patient billing information accurately.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience.
• Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan.
• Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• BLS certification required.
• Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
