Schedule

This is a full-time position working weekdays from 6:30 AM to 5 PM, with one variable weekday off per week. On-call responsibilities include 1 weekend per month (from 5 PM Friday to 6:30 AM Monday) and 4 weeknights per month (from 5 PM to 6:30 AM the next day).

Job Description

The Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II will demonstrate an understanding of cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology. Responsibilities include assisting with the orientation and training of Cath Lab staff, handling special projects, and adhering to medical ethics principles. The tech will require a thorough understanding of ECG and related medical terminology, recognizing waveform morphology, and distinguishing between various cardiac pathologies and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor diagnostic cardiac catheter procedures and intervene as necessary during lethal arrhythmias using ACLS standards.
• Identify coronary anatomy through cine angiographic projections and cardiac pressure waveforms.
• Calculate hemodynamic parameters and document catheterization events in the database.
• Prepare necessary supplies and set up for diagnostic cardiac catheterizations.
• Perform cardiac outputs, oxygen saturations, and activated clotting time (ACT) measurements.
• Understand cardiac medications, their indications, and potential side effects.
• Recognize and alert physicians to abnormalities in clinical laboratory values.
• Explain the indications and complications of thrombolytic therapy for acute myocardial infarctions (MIs).
• Identify electrophysiologic testing indications and procedures, including permanent pacemaker implant and implantable cardioverter defibrillators.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a Cath Lab or Electrophysiology (EP) lab.
• Required certifications include ACLS and BLS. RCIS or RCES licensure is preferred; ARRT acceptable with scrub experience in cardiac interventions.
• Experience with the Merge Hemo documentation system is preferred.
