Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Schedule

This position involves a day shift schedule of 3x12 hours, specifically from 07:30 AM to 07:30 PM, with weekend coverage required every other weekend.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care in a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit, managing patients with diagnoses such as COPD, pneumonia, and chest pain. The ideal candidate will possess solid clinical skills and be able to interpret and manage dysrhythmias effectively, while utilizing rapid response and code teams as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patient conditions in a telemetry setting.
• Administer medications and blood products as prescribed.
• Perform central line care, IV starts, and maintain peripheral lines.
• Provide patient and family education regarding care and treatment plans.
• Utilize isolation precautions and PPE as per protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a similar setting.
• Active NY Registered Nurse license is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are mandatory.
• Experience with Epic charting system is required.
