Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and assisting with patient transport as necessary. The role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, alongside educating them about treatments and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using various ventilatory equipment.
• Administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation as needed.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance.
• Conduct suctioning procedures, including oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods.
• Monitor patient oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient chest x-rays and participate in further evaluations as needed.
• Assist with respiratory procedures like bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency.
• Conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain and troubleshoot ventilatory equipment, ensuring proper function and safety.
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately on medical records.
• Communicate with healthcare team members regarding patient progress and care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Candidates must possess the appropriate licensure and certifications in respiratory therapy as required by state regulations.
