X-Ray Technologist
Schedule
Monday - Friday, Days, on call/callback, holidays per unit needs (5x8hrs). Candidates must be able to report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts, with 2-3 call shifts per month.
Job Description
The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for conducting x-ray procedures, ensuring accurate patient identification, and reviewing physician's orders prior to imaging. The role involves patient interaction, positioning, and utilizing x-ray equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
Responsibilities
- Verify patients' identity and review physicians' orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
- Utilize x-ray equipment to capture radiographic images as per physician's instructions.
- Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address their questions.
- Position patients correctly, including lifting and moving those with limited mobility.
- Ensure all radiologic equipment is handled safely and properly, minimizing patient exposure to radiation.
- Observe each patient’s status and interpret necessary information based on age-specific needs.
- Produce diagnostic quality images for radiologist interpretation.
- Notify management of any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
- Utilize electronic patient information systems for verifying patient details and assuring accurate image documentation.
- Maintain accurate patient records by properly identifying images and ensuring correct transmission to the PACS system.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- New York State license or ability to obtain a license prior to starting.
- Two years of experience as X-Ray Technologist, preferably at a Level 1 trauma center.
- Recent experience using c-arm/o-arm in the past 8 months.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to lift or move patients and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- A patient, compassionate disposition and ability to work as a team player.
