Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering respiratory therapy services to patients in a timely and accurate manner. This role involves evaluating and treating inpatients and outpatients, as well as working with UHS staff and community groups as needed.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy procedures as directed by the manager.
• Perform various therapeutic procedures including Aerosol Therapy, CPT, PEP, Incentive Spirometry, Suctioning, Extubation, and Oxygen Therapy.
• Manage BiPAP-CPAP therapy and alarms, as well as High Flow Cannula/Humidifier therapy.
• Perform pulmonary function screenings, EKG procedures, and blood gas analysis.
• Ensure oxygen tank safety and manage ventilator alarms.
• Provide life support (Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal BLS) as necessary.
• Maintain patient healthcare information systems and medication administration programs.
• Record and appropriately report the results of all procedures.
• Assist in departmental in-service programs and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Up to three (3) years of experience in respiratory therapy, particularly in critical care or NICU settings.
• Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.
• New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
• Registered by the NBRC as a Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS and ACLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
• Experience with V60 BiPAP and 980 Puritan Bennett Ventilators is preferred.
