Job Description

Critical care registered nurses are essential in providing high-level care for patients experiencing severe medical emergencies, such as heart attacks, strokes, shock, trauma, and respiratory distress. They play a vital role in conducting assessments, implementing care plans, and collaborating with the healthcare team to deliver optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient conditions and develop comprehensive care plans.
• Treat wounds and provide advanced life support as necessary.
• Assist physicians with medical procedures.
• Monitor and record vital signs diligently.
• Ensure medical equipment, such as ventilators and monitors, are functioning correctly.
• Administer intravenous fluids and medications as ordered.
• Provide suctioning and other critical care interventions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary critical care team.
• Respond promptly to life-threatening situations using established nursing standards.
• Act as an advocate for patients and their families.
• Provide education and support to patients and families regarding care plans.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• Possess a valid Texas RN license or multi-state RN license.
• Must be willing to float to lower acuity areas based on facility census and accept a full assignment of 6 patients while floating.
• Experience in critical and acute care settings preferred.
