Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while embodying the core values of the organization. This includes a strong focus on patient and employee safety, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to establish a personalized plan of care.
  • Provide timely patient information and status updates for team conferences.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all assessments and patient responses in the medical record.
  • Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and provide direct patient care using the nursing process.
  • Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching upon admission.
  • Communicate changes in patient status to care providers to support continuity of care.
  • Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel effectively.
  • Assure personal and environmental safety by adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Contribute positively to unit functioning by providing calm direction and reassurance to staff, patients, and families.
  • Monitor supplies and ensure quality patient outcomes while managing care cost-effectively.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
  • ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (for specific units).
  • Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience.
  • Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is required.
  • Charge Nurse experience is required.
  • Previous experience with the organization is highly desired.
