Orthopedic Night Nurse (3x12-Hour) - Contract Position

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

This position works on a night shift schedule with 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will provide direct patient care to orthopedic patients, demonstrating adherence to clinical protocols and exceptional nursing practices. The nurse will work closely with a team of healthcare professionals to support the patient’s recovery and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and ensure patient safety.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and health changes.
• Documentation of patient care in the EPIC system accurately.
• Perform various nursing tasks including pre/post procedural care, wound management, and IV starts.
• Provide education to patients and their families regarding care plans.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an orthopedic or medical/surgical setting.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS and NIHSS preferred.
• Experience with telemetry and managing complex patient cases.
• Ability to float to units of equal or lesser acuity as required.
• Experience with central lines, intravenous therapies, and wound care.
