Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Schedule

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 6pm-6:30am, and works every 6th weekend.

Job Description

Under limited supervision, provides, plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care and functions in the Emergency Department. Relates effectively with other shifts for continuity of care; maintains satisfactory relations with other departments; participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records, and upgrading of policies, procedures, and skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients on the unit, including giving direct patient care.
• Utilize gathered data in determining priorities for patients' physical, psychological, educational, and discharge needs in formulating the plan of care.
• Administer medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
• Evaluate patient/family responses to implementation of the plan of care and modify the plan of care based on these responses.
• Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
• Support and enforce infection control policies and procedures.
• Document accurately, concisely, and in a timely manner.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Iowa licensure as a Registered Nurse
• Healthcare Provider BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well
