Job Description

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the organization. The nurse maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. The nurse facilitates the coordination of patient care within the interdisciplinary care team and provides patient education to assure safe patient discharge.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily rounds on all patients to assure quality customer service by coordinating and addressing unmet requirements.
• Develop a comprehensive plan of care reflecting the patient's physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs.
• Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions.
• Promptly assess, intervene, and reassess the patient's pain, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Identify early warning signs of patient condition changes and respond effectively to deteriorating patients.
• Assist with or initiate emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patient conditions.
• Report significant observations regarding patients to the appropriate multidisciplinary team member.
• Begin discharge planning and provide education based on identified needs early in the patient's stay.
• Evaluate and document nursing care in accordance with operational procedures.
• Delegate nursing interventions to competent personnel as appropriate.
• Complete all required incident reports before the end of each shift.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered Nurse licensure in North Dakota or under Compact State Agreement.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from American Academy of Pediatrics.
• STABLE certification.
