Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while promoting patient and employee safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission.
• Identify teaching needs and goals related to the diagnosis of each patient from the nursing admission assessment.
• Provide timely patient information and status for team conferences.
• Accountable for accurate and timely documentation of all assessments and interventions.
• Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and utilize the nursing process for direct patient care.
• Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission and patient teaching in anticipation of discharge.
• Communicate pertinent changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
• Provide direction and supervision of ancillary nursing personnel.
• Maintain personal and environmental safety in accordance with policies.
• Contribute positively to the functioning of the unit.
• Identify and pursue professional growth and continuing education.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
• Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience highly desired.
