Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge through use of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards. This includes the nursing process for assessing patient needs, developing care plans, implementing nursing interventions, and evaluating outcomes for patients from neonates to geriatrics. The position may require on-call assignments due to varying patient volumes.

Responsibilities

• Triages every patient upon entry to the emergency care system to determine care priorities.
• Develops and implements a dynamic plan of care based on continual assessments.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment for emergency patient care.
• Recognizes changes in patient health status and directs appropriate care.
• Documents patient responses to interventions accurately.
• Implements health education for patients and their families regarding treatment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (renewed every two years).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (renewed every two years).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (renewed every two years).
• Valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Experience with EPIC Computer Charting is preferred.
