Job Description

The Registered Nurse holds shift accountability for providing care to Emergency Room patients by utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy and procedures. The registered nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for safe delivery of care of the patient in the Emergency Department. They maintain clinical competencies through continuing education, delegate patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the staff available, and provide direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the Nursing Process to deliver quality care to Emergency Room patients.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills and scientific judgment in patient care.
• Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing education and training.
• Delegate patient care responsibilities based on staff qualifications and experience.
• Supervise and support personnel providing patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association).
• Must have TNCC certification.
• Must possess a valid Alabama RN license.
• Proven experience in an Emergency Room setting is preferred.
