This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shifts are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm with on-call duties required after hours and possible weekend call.

Job Description

The O.R. Surgical Technologist First Assistant functions as the surgeon's assistant, working directly under supervision throughout surgical procedures. This role demands expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques, along with a thorough understanding of human anatomy and surgical procedures. Surgical Technologist First Assistants are responsible for assisting the surgical team in the preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative phases of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon, nurse, anesthesiologist, and/or CRNA during surgical procedures.
• Maintain sterile fields and ensure the application of aseptic techniques.
• Prepare surgical instruments and materials required for procedures.
• Monitor patient status and assist with patient care before, during, and after surgery.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a surgical technology accredited surgical assisting program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through the NBSTSA.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a surgical setting required.
