This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

The shift is 3x12 hours from 07:00 to 19:00, including weekdays and some weekends. There may be flexibility to provide coverage with a patient ratio of 1:4, increasing to 1:5 during emergencies.

Job Description

The Stepdown/Immediate Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing care to patients with varying levels of acuity, including those recovering from cardiac surgery or interventional cardiology procedures. The nurse will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to monitor and manage patient health effectively.

Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and vital signs, assessing patient conditions.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous (IV) therapies.
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as necessary for patient emergencies.
• Provide pre and post-operative nursing care for cardiac procedures.
• Ensure effective communication with healthcare team members and families.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1.5 to 2 years of nursing experience, specifically in stepdown and medical-surgical/telemetry units.
• Current RN license in West Virginia or compact state.
• Certifications required: BCLS and ACLS (both must be from American Heart Association).
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips and manage dysrhythmias.
