Job Description

Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs Radiologic procedures for the evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician. Performs related functions according to department protocols. Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for examinations.
• Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations, obtaining additional patient medical history as needed.
• Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies.
• Analyzes anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs Radiologic procedures.
• May select and administer intravenous contrast media and monitor patients for possible reactions.
• Follows principles of radiation protection and department infection control practices.
• Completes all necessary documentation and ensures high quality image delivery into PACS.
• Assumes the responsibility of teaching new hires and students as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible.
• Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a relevant setting with level I or II Trauma experience.
