Job Description

The Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) specializes in providing care for patients requiring a higher level of observation and treatment than general medical-surgical patients. This unit typically manages cases such as chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-procedural care.

Responsibilities

• Manage a patient ratio typically of 1:5, with potential for accommodations up to 1:6.
• Titrate intravenous medications and manage critical care drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and others.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips alongside Tele Techs.
• Coordinate with in-house Hospitalists and Intensivists 24/7 for patient care management.
• Participate in floating to other units as required, with responsibilities in both telemetry and medical-surgical settings.
• Engage in comprehensive orientation and training with a preceptor upon beginning the assignment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license, able to disclose any licensing hits at the time of submission.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Experience in a similar unit and familiarity with vent management preferred.
