Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants, along with orientees.
Responsibilities
- Perform a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis of an individualized care plan.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to patient diagnoses through collaboration with patients and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely updates regarding patient information and status for team conferences.
- Responsible for accurate and timely documentation of all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record.
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process.
- Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission and patient teaching in anticipation of discharge.
- Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and safety.
- Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, utilizing effective problem-solving techniques.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to safety policies and procedures.
- Contribute positively to the unit's functioning through calm direction and team collaboration.
- Monitor supplies and equipment to ensure cost-effective care while promoting quality patient outcomes.
- Assume charge responsibility after completing the orientation period.
- Actively pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
- ACLS required prior to the first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
