Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. This role includes evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining procedures in detail to patients, and providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices for medication, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and patient suctioning using multiple methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography as per policy.
• Review patient chest x-rays to assess the need for further evaluation.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist in procedures related to respiratory care.
• Maintain records of treatments and patient responses accurately.
• Communicate with physicians regarding the efficiency of therapy administered.
• Ensure proper handling and testing of respiratory specimens according to policy.
• Execute cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Set up and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license.
• Certification in BLS and ACLS.
• Experience with ventilator management and respiratory care procedures.
