Job Description

The Computed Tomography Technologist coordinates and participates in all computerized tomography scanning procedures. This role involves setting up, monitoring, and operating complex computerized equipment for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and monitor computer operation of C.T. equipment for each patient, ensuring safety and proper lifting techniques.
• Provide required patient identification and obtain pertinent medical history, including allergies.
• Prepare and inject contrast media intravenously as protocolled by the Radiologist.
• Make and develop images for permanent record; record studies on magnetic tape for future reference.
• Organize daily patient schedules in cooperation with work-room technicians.
• Maintain image quality and conduct daily calibration and quality control of equipment.
• Monitor patients for allergic reactions and assist in emergency medical situations, including CPR.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations prescribed by the Michigan Department of Public Health.
• Maintain cleanliness of the working environment and manage inventory of supplies.
• Instruct new personnel and assist Radiologists and physician specialists in specialized procedures.
• Review and record pertinent patient history to aid in diagnosis.
• Participate in quality assessments and continuous improvement opportunities within the department.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of CT experience (REQUIRED)
• Experience with Phillips equipment (REQUIRED)
• Traveler experience is preferred.
• Certification in BLS and ARRT is required.
• Michigan license verification is required for nurses.
