Job Description

The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse (CVICU RN) will provide specialized care to patients recovering from open-heart surgery within a 10-bed ICU unit. This role requires recent experience as an Open Heart Recovery Nurse and is essential in catering to higher acuity patients in a rapidly expanding cardiac service environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to hemodynamically stable and unpredictably unstable cardiac surgical patients.
• Deliver emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients and their families.
• Conduct skilled assessments and intervene for potential deteriorating conditions.
• Operate and manage advanced medical equipment, including central lines, chest tubes, and ventilatory support.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including providers, charge nurses, and allied health staff.
• Assist with precepting new staff and act as a clinical leader in patient care initiatives.
• Manage patient care from admission to discharge, including effective discharge planning.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current State of Montana RN Licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Degree from an accredited nursing program.
• Recent Critical Care experience, particularly in CVICU and open-heart nursing preferred.
